Blog 16: Tim Burton – Alice in Wonderland and other films
I have been watching Tim Burton films ever since Nightmare Before Christmas and have been a fan since a young age. I think that they are so gothic and executed beautifully and everything is great right down to the last detail. Some people say that Nightmare Before Christmas is his best film (visually) so I’m going to start there. However, his early work should also not be overlooked. He made a short story called Vincent which was based on a child that wanted to be Vincent Price. It was written in the style of Edgar Allen Poe’s the Raven and was done all in black and white with stop motion animation. In the Tim Burton book I have just bought there are some lovely images of Vincent so I may want to look at them as well as checking out some of the other images that he has drawn and other films that he has done.
